- How to test the contents of the OS distribution ?

The live pendrive boot can be used on a machine without hard disk. So you can 
test without risking your computer data.

In addition the system can be inspected without booting by mounting the .img 
file as follows

gunzip banet-miner-os-v35.img.gz
losetup -o 4128768 /dev/loop0 banet-miner-os-v35.img
mount /dev/loop0 /mnt/disk

You will find stock ubuntu desktop 16.04, plus nvidia driver 384, ewbf miner, 
eth claymore dual miner.


- How to test the integrity of the iso file

Look for the file ending in sha256sum.txt at
https://ssl.ba.net/banet-miner-os
It contains the sha256 signature of the latest .iso file


- Burn the img to the USB Pendrive with MacOS

Identify the disk (not partition) of your USB flash drive e.g. disk3:

banet@macbookpro ~ $ diskutil list
Unmount your USB flash drive:

banet@macbookpro ~ $ diskutil unmountDisk /dev/disk3
Copy the image to your USB flash drive:

banet@macbookpro ~ $ sudo dd bs=1m if=banet-miner-os-v34.img of=/dev/rdisk3


- Burn the image to USB Pendrive with Linux

Find out the name of your USB drive with lsblk. Make sure that it is 
not mounted.
Run the following command, replacing /dev/sdx with your drive, e.g. /dev/sdb. 
(Do not append a partition number, so do not use something like /dev/sdb1)

# dd bs=4M if=banet-miner-os-v34.img of=/dev/sdx status=progress && sync
Wait for the command sync to complete before unplugging the USB drive to 
ensure the data was written completely.


- Unattended Reboot From Pendrive OS

Disable Secure Boot (UEFI).

Make sure your pendrive is selected as the first boot option on your bios.
Important: Set the boot option to "LEGACY" on bios (no UEFI)


- Enable overclocking control of Nvidia GPUs 

#sudo nvidia-xconfig -a --cool-bits=31 --allow-empty-initial-configuration
#sudo service lightdm restart
#
# edit your parameters for each GPU and run the script as root
# sudo sh start-overclocking.sh
#


- Optional Pendrive boot install to hard drive or SSD

The system is designed to be used without a hard disk. But you can 
install it

At boot time choose the option hard disk install

Select a partition, '/' mount point root , filesystem and click the green 
arrow button.
Select a partition, '/boot/efi' mount point uefi , filesystem and click the 
green arrow button.


- Headless booting

You can boot without a monitor, but with low resolution for VNC access.
You can simulate a regular monitor with an hdmi to vga adaptor. 
It only needs to be connected to the 1st GPU at boot time.


- Troubleshooting motherboard booting or supporting more than 4 GPUS

 Make sure you are running the latest BIOS
 Upgrade bios to newest (important)
 Enable 4G encode
 Set PCIe support to Auto
 Enable onboard graphics to default (PEG - > IDG)
 Plug your monitor into the ONBOARD graphics
